Disney is officially banning this major thing in all its parks, and not everyone is going to be happy
Disney Parks has a notable new rule that may delight some vacationers and alienate others: Smoking is no longer permitted on the grounds of Walt Disney World or Disneyland. The official Disney Parks blog reported Thursday, March 28th, that a number of new rules will go into effect beginning May 1st, 2019.
“Smoking areas will no longer be present inside Walt Disney World or Disneyland theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex or Downtown Disney District in California,” the communications manager wrote. She did note, however, that smokers will still have “designated smoking areas” outside the entrances of Disney parks and at Disney Springs in Florida, as well as in Disney hotels.
While probably the biggest change, the smoking rule isn’t the only one going into effect in May. Disney is also changing its guidelines for strollers and for “loose or dry” ice. Strollers will now be required to be less than 31 inches wide and 52 inches long, and stroller wagons will no longer be allowed in the parks. Furthermore, ice is no longer allowed in coolers (though thirsty guests can still pack their water bottles).
