Diddy Explained Why He Made Lizzo Stop Twerking on Instagram Live
Another day, another #LetLizzoTwerk debacle.
We’ve been here before (sort of). Back in December, Lizzo twerked at a Lakers game in a butt-baring t-shirt dress, invoking the ire of … many. In March, a TikTok she shared of herself in a bathing suit was removed by the platform (though later re-posted after alleged human error).
On Easter Sunday, there was a mixup of sorts when the singer joined Diddy on his Instagram Live dance-a-thon.
Lizzo started getting into it, doing one of the many things she is amazing at — twerking — when Diddy interrupted. "Whoa, whoa, whoa!" he said, stopping the music. "It's Easter Sunday, let's play something a little more family friendly."
Lizzo, understandably caught a bit off guard, responded, “Sorry, sorry, sorry!” breaking into a fit of laughter.
“Let's do something fun. Well, don't play that kind of ... play something I can bop to. Play 'Juice' by Lizzo!"

Fans interpreted Diddy’s exclamation as disapproval of Lizzo’s twerking, so when he praised model Draya Michelle when she began twerking on the feed a few hours later, people were angry.
P Diddy ain’t SHIT ?? When Lizzo started twerking he brought that to an end with the quickness but had nothing to say to Draya when she was shaking bum ?????♂??????♂??????♂??????♂??????♂? pic.twitter.com/W2BAskCYSX

You all hate that Lizzo expresses herself the way she does yet have little to no objection when that same expression is displayed by those with bodies you desire! Just admit that you think fat people have no right to be happy least of all with their bodies and sit down stupid.

Diddy returned to his Instagram stories after the dance-a-thon had ended, explaining that the only issue he had with Lizzo’s performance was the expletive-filled music.

"There's one thing that I want to make clear,” he began in the video. “My queen, my sister Lizzo, when I stopped the music it was 'cause it had a lot of curses in there, not 'cause she was twerking. She’s one of the best twerkers in the world. Let's keep that clear. It wasn't about twerking. You're allowed to twerk on Easter. There was a lot of cursing in the record. And I don't need child services knocking on my door right now, you understand? So that's why I stopped the record. Lizzo, we love you and everybody stop looking for the negative, look for the positive!”
