A Designer Has Done The Unthinkable By Turning Chipotle Napkins Into Cargo Pants
Many of us we were taught to never wipe our hands on our clothes while eating, no matter how tempting it is. But a new collaboration between Chipotle and upcycle designer Nicole McLaughlin throws that rule completely out the window.
Inspired by a meme from June 2021, McLaughlin has teamed up with the fast casual chain to create Chipotle Napkin Cargo Pants. Yes, a pair of pants made with the beige napkins we've all grabbed far too many of before eating a burrito bowl.
Just like your average cargo pants, these pants can be converted into shorts simply by zipping off the bottom half. As amazing as that is, we've saved the best part for last. They also have pockets!
If you're finding it hard to comprehend the idea of a pants being made with napkins, check out the behind-the-scenes video of the cargo pants being put together. It shows McLaughlin quite literally sewing the piece together, napkin by napkin.
For Chipotle, who've been on a roll the past year with their Cilantro Soap and "Water" Cup Candle, the idea to collaborate with McLaughlin on the pants showcases their dedication to sustainability.
“With our commitment to sustainable food and fashion, Nicole was the perfect partner to help us bring the ‘Napkin Cargo Pants’ to life tastefully and responsibly," said Chris Brandt, Chief Marketing Officer, in a statement.
Unfortunately for those looking to get their hands on a pair of Chipotle Napkin Cargo Pants, it appears that the pants are a one-off. But who knows? Maybe the chain restaurant will come out with a whole line of wearable napkins in the future. We can only hope.
