Denise Richards Says She Told Her Daughters She Was In Playboy
Denise Richards has been a working actress for years, but she kind of fell out of headlines in the past few years. Now, she’s back on the public's radar, thanks to Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (on which she's reportedly one of the highest-paid cast members).
In case you’re not up-to-date with all things Denise, she used to be married to Charlie Sheen. The two were a high-profile couple in the early 2000s, before they split in 2006. Before they broke up, Charlie Sheen and Denise had two daughters: Lola and Sam.
Denise later married actor Aaron Phypers (the ex-husband of actress, writer, and producer Nicolette Sheridan) in 2018. But before she married Aaron, she adopted her third daughter, Eloise.
Denise recently told People that she’s a “strict parent.” “I definitely have rules and boundaries and there’s consequences,” she said, adding that doesn’t let her daughters “do whatever they want.”

Denise adopted Eloise as a single parent.
Denise was single when she adopted Eloise in 2011. “I felt like I wasn’t done having children, and I’ve always wanted to have a large family,” she told People at the time. “And so after my divorce I felt like, ‘Oh well, I’m sure I’ll soon enough get remarried and have my family [grow],’ and that wasn’t in the cards at the time, so I decided to expand my family on my own.”
Denise revealed that Eloise has special needs.
The actress was visibly upset when she opened up about Eloise during the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion. Eloise is “doing really good,” she said, but noted that she has a chromosome disorder. “She has a deletion in chromosome 8, which has caused many delays with her and it’s caused a lot with speech development,” she said. Eloise wasn’t able to sit up on her own for a long time, and didn't start walking until she was 2. She can also only say a handful of words. It was a very difficult thing to diagnose,” Denise said. “She went through a lot of shit.”
Denise is honest with her kids about her past.
Denise posed naked for Playboy back in 2004, and she recently said on Dean McDermott’s “Daddy Issues” podcast that she was “honest” with her kids about it. “They had heard that I was in Playboy," she said. "I didn’t even think that they would know what that is because now kids can go on the Internet and see all kinds of things, so [I had] to explain that. ... They don’t Google [me]. I don’t think they want to know certain things, either. I wouldn’t want to read certain things about my parents.”
Aaron has also decided to adopt Eloise.
While Denise adopted Eloise back in 2011, Aaron is currently in the process of adopting her, as well. “He’s amazing with my daughters and he’s adopting my youngest so it’s really great,” Denise recently told People.
Denise is super-close with her kids.
Denise posts about her children all the time on Instagram. In October, she had the sweetest thing to say about being away from them: “Missing my beautiful girls ... I’m sure every parent can relate to juggling the family & working. Miss them so much.”
The kids have appeared on RHOBH (and other shows).
They’ve actually been on quite a few episodes. That’s not their only showbiz experience, either. Sam also once appeared on her dad’s show, Two and a Half Men, and both she and Lola were on their mom’s reality show, Denise Richards: It’s Complicated.
