Demi Lovato Suffers Face Injury, Needs Stitches Ahead of Show Appearance
Demi Lovato had a bit of an accident ahead of a big show appearance this week.
The "Cool for the Summer" singer revealed on TikTok last night that they suffered a face injury and had to get stitches. In a video, Lovato is seen holding their forehead with one hand, while smiling to the viral "nobody's gonna know" sound, before revealing a small cut just above their eye—"they're gonna know."
"Guess who hit their head on a crystal and has to get stitches before Kimmel tomorrow???" the artist—who identifies as nonbinary—captioned the clip.
Lovato is scheduled to appear and perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live today, ahead of the release of their eighth studio album, Holy Fvck, which drops August 19. They will then embark on an international tour—their first since their 2018 near-fatal overdose.
"We're working so hard to deliver an incredible show for all my fans and I can't wait to see them in person to celebrate this new music," Lovato said in a statement. "I'm so excited to get back on the road after four years without touring, and even longer since I've toured in South America."
Lovato released "SKIN OF MY TEETH," a single from the album, last month. In the powerful pop-rock track, they address what it's like living with addiction, and at one point, say they escaped death and are "alive by the skin of my teeth."
The first verse goes: "Demi leaves rehab again / When is this shit gonna end? / Sounds like the voice in my head / I can't believe I'm not dead."
They also teased another instant hit from the album, "Substance," in which they sing about not wanting to fall into addiction again, and instead looking for a life with substance.
