Deadpool 3 Delay Could Prove Costly
Deadpool 3 will fail to hit its scheduled release date, according to a new report.
The upcoming Marvel film, which stars Ryan Reynolds as disfigured mercenary Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as clawed mutant Wolverine, was set to release on May 3, 2024, but sources at Deadline have now said that date has been pushed back due to the ongoing actors’ strike.
This delay is the first of many to come. With the strike causing films to be abandoned halfway through production, getting them going again is a long and costly process. We’re about to see a serious shake-up of movie releases over the next few months.
One of them, according to Deadline, is Captain America: Brave New World. This was reportedly set for release on July 26, 2024, two months after Deadpool 3. But, having already finished production, it will likely release earlier.
Deadpool 3 director Shawn Levy recently shared his thoughts with DigitalSpy on that original release date, calling it a “true risk,” and admitting “I don't even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3…Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We've shot half the movie. I've edited half the movie. We're dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year.”
Disney has yet to officially alter Deadpool 3’s current release date of May 3, 2024.
Before then, you can catch Hugh Jackman in Faraway Downs as Baz Luhrmann releases his six-episode miniseries on Hulu.
