David Cassidy Has Died at the Age of 67
David Cassidy has died at the age of 67, People reports.
"On behalf of the entire Cassidy family, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy," his family said in a statement to People. "David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years."
He was hospitalized last week with multiple organ failure. On Sunday, his publicist JoAnn Geffen told The Associated Press that Cassidy in a private room, conscious and surrounded by family. Geffen says there is nothing "imminent" about his condition, and doctors are hoping to "keep him as well as they can until they can find another liver."
Several stars took to Twitter to voice their grief over his sudden passing:
