Danielle Brooks stuns in wedding dresses by Christian Siriano and Alonuko
Marriage looks amazing on Danielle Brooks!
On Thursday, the 32-year-old actress shared several photos from her wedding to now husband Dennis Gelin, and the pair looked stunning. Brooks wore two breathtaking gowns: one by Alonuko, a Black-owned and U.K.-based designer brand, that had a shear bodice with floral embellishments, and the second a white three-piece Christian Siriano gown with a huge statement-making detachable train.
"I’z married now!" she captioned the post, quoting a famous line from The Color Purple — a nod to her previously starring in the Broadway production.
Brooks also thanked Siriano in a separate post where she posed with the designer near the opening of a large safe, writing, "Words can’t express how grateful I am to have a friend like you. You’ve held me down from one of my first carpets to the most important day of my life! I love you and appreciate your friendship! Thank you for my 3 in 1 dress!"
Countless celebrity friends and fans flooded the comments to congratulate the new bride and share how much they loved her two looks.
"CAN NOT HANDLE THIS!!!!! GORGEOUS!!!!!!" Gabby Sidibe wrote.
"Omg this is so beautiful!!" Jennifer Hudson praised.
"CONGRATULATIONS!!!! So happy for you both!!!" Kelly Rowland added.
"You never disappoint! Gorgeous! Congratulations," one fan wrote.
"Wheeeewwwwwwwwww. Daniiiiiiiii!!!!!!!! so soooo happpy for you!!! Congratulations my loveeee," another fan commented.
The couple, who share 2-year-old daughter Freeya, announced their engagement in January 2020 after dating for 2 1/2 years. In a recent interview with Vogue, Brooks opened up about the wedding, noting that they made sure they followed precautions due to omicron.
“It was a bit too late in the process to turn back, so we added extra precautions with required PCR tests and rapid tests the day of the wedding," Brooks shared. "I have to say our wedding planner, D’Concierge, was out of this world amazing. He never panicked and kept us levelheaded during the ups and downs."
The challenges didn't stop Brooks and Gelin from having a beautiful wedding. The couple performed a ceremony where they used melted wax to seal love letters that they would open at their 1-year anniversary.
“There wasn’t a dry eye in the building," she recalled. “We cried the ugly cry, and laughed hard. Dennis and I did our personal handshake and jumped the broom in honor of our ancestors. It was definitely a night to remember.”
