Cutie Pies Elton John & Husband David Furnish Exchange Handwritten Love Letters Weekly
It’s official: Elton John is a tiny dancer romantic.
In a visual accompaniment to musician 6LACK’s new album East Atlanta Love Letter, the Grammy winner and his husband, David Furnish, revealed they’ve exchanged handwritten love letters every Saturday for the entirety of their 25-year relationship. Swoon.
Furnish explained in the video, which premiered exclusively on Bazaar.com, they consider each Saturday their anniversary because they met on the day so many years ago.
It started as a kind gesture and has evolved into something else entirely. As Furnish explained, “So we wrote down, in like a little card that you put next to the bed, ‘Happy Anniversary,’ and you write about the week that’s passed and the week that’s coming, and you connect, and you tell each other you love each other.”
He continued, “The fact that we do it religiously every Saturday has been a very powerful bonding thing for us.”
It’s a practice that John says has helped them “sort through [their] difficulties” and celebrate their triumphs.
The couple met in 1993, married in 2014 and now have two sons together—Elijah (5) and Zachary (7).
