Costco Shoppers are Complaining About the Quality of This Unexpected Food Court Item
Costco’s food court is a magical place where membership holders’ dreams come true on a daily basis. From the ever-so-popular $1.50 hot dog combo to the ice cream sundaes, slices of pizza and chicken-stuffed baked loaves of bread, Costco’s food court menu is an always evolving selection of fan-favorite cafeteria-style eats. And while some people can always find something negative to say about their favorite discount eatery, most shoppers speak of the food court in the highest regard possible.
The road to success always comes paved with a few bumps along the way, however, and Costco recently hit a fairly problematic one. The retailer's food court fountain drink dispenser has come under fire as one shopper took to Reddit to complain of its unreliable state. For those who regularly frequent the bulk retailer's eatery, this might not actually come as a surprise.
“In my area, our fountains are the worst of any I have ever used,” stated the disgruntled customer in their post to the Costco subreddit. “The flavor ratio tastes like when normal machines are slightly out of syrup,” they continued, “and it takes 90 seconds to fill a cup because within 15-percent of volume being filled the foam is overflowing.”

In the comment section, some necessary light was shed on the arguably distasteful situation. Some were quick to point out that the blame is likely to fall on Pepsi and their technicians who service the fountain machines. Costco has been met with reports of either too much syrup or too much fizz, and not at all the right amount of flavor.
“Costco just wants to keep the price down—Pepsi is the one failing to keep the machines up,” noted one commenter. “I actually don’t disagree,” added another, “I find most locations definitely have issues getting the balance right. Some are crazy syrupy and some have too much carbonation.”
As is the case for most soda fountain machines, the appliance is entirely dependent on who sets them up. And while Costco is doing what they deem necessary to keep their costs down, some simple employee training might be necessary to help curb the issue altogether. It’s one thing for customers to knock your business for choosing Pepsi products over Coca-Cola, but it's an entirely different thing to sabotage the very thing that dispenses beverages to your loyal customers.
