Cooling off at Water Wizz: Renovations to Pipeline Plunge 'add to the fun'
With its five epic waterslides, Water Wizz has kicked off its 42nd season with several changes aimed at improving the customer experience.
In her 25th season at the outdoor water park, Jackie Pierce, director of operations and aquatics, said she loves her Water Wizz and was excited for the start of the new season that kicked off June 15.
Water Wizz, located at 3031 Cranberry Highway in East Wareham, has been under new ownership since 2022. Last year, the new owner W.W. Cranberry Highway Inc., renovated the Pipeline Plunge to add to the fun.
“We have three sections of tube that have clear parts so it looks like a spiral when you go down, which is really fun,” she said. “We power washed, cleaned and had Thunder Falls and Pipeline Plunge commissioned by Pro Slide this season.”
The bathrooms at Hurricane Hill were also completely renovated last year.
Changes aim to streamline the process
Water Wizz also has a new ticketing system with scanning stations on podiums at the ticket booth as opposed to hand-held, which has been an improvement by streaming the incoming process, she said.
They also added VIP seating that can be reserved online.
While the gate price is $52, Pierce recommends buying tickets online because the prices are lower.
“We encourage guests to buy their tickets online because they are discounted online,” she said.
Tickets must be purchased for a specific date, but guests can change the date with more than 48 hours notice.
Water Wizz has also updated its locker system with a change to electronic lockers with a QR code to make it easier for their guests. Their cabanas are also available for guests. Both require a fee.
Looking forward to the future
Pierce said it has been a good year for hiring workers including aquatic attendants and lifeguards for the water park with just a few openings remaining for cooks.
While there are no new attractions, Pierce said the owners hope to add a new attraction in the next three to four years.
“The new ownership is definitely looking long-term and has great vision and wants to give back to the community,” she said.
