Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society to celebrate 25 years
CONNEAUT LAKE — The Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special open house June 23 from 2 to 5 pm. at the museum, 150 N. Third St.
The free celebration will begin with a short program at 2 p.m. Door prizes will be awarded every half-hour. Light refreshments, including cake, will be served.
Guests may tour both the museum, which opened in 2003, and the recently-renovated upstairs. The gift shop will be open as well.
Special exhibits will focus on various aspects of the society’s history. The group was officially founded June 14, 1999, after several months of planning.
A DVD of a previous theater production presented by the society at the former Stable Pit and Pub will be played throughout the event.
The society now has 354 members and more than 47,000 artifacts. During the past 25 years, it has raised more than $1 million and spent more than $700,000 of it in northwest Pennsylvania.
The open house is one of several free events in celebration of the anniversary.

Quilts may be taken to the museum to be entered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 1, 2, 3 and 5 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6. They then will be displayed in the museum at the show. Guests may vote on the People’s Choice Award to be presented at the close of the show.
