The shoes are designed with mylar recovery blankets in mind — the blankets used to keep runners warm after they finish the marathon. Concepts and Adidas used a highly-reflective foiled silver leather for the outer layers and rounded off with tri-color strips and multi-color branded laces. The all-over mylar material is accented with hits of navy, red and white with co-branding on the tongues, lace capes and sockliners.
Each purchase comes packaged in an all-white commemorative A-ZX box and retails for $140. The ZX-9000 Concepts will be available at its retail stores and cncpts.com on Sept. 6 before being released globally on Sept. 12.
Concepts has been keeping busy this summer, releasing a limited-edition line using a new iteration of a ‘90s sneaker in collaboration with Lacoste last month. The Storm 96 sneaker gave the previous silhouette a new look equipped with an iridescent logo, gold-tipped laces and interchangeable tongue-tags in hues of green, blue, sand and praisun.
Previously, the Boston-based footwear company has partnered with big companies such as New Balance to create new shoe designs.
