Is There a Conan Gray x BTS Collab in the Works?
There's no denying that K-Pop powerhouses BTS and Gen Z whisperer Conan Gray are at the forefront of pop music in the 2020s. While Conan made waves on TikTok with songs like "Heather" and "Maniac," BTS was crossing over to U.S. success and spawning catchy hits like "Butter." Now, imagine both of these worlds musically colliding — they would seriously break the internet.
During Conan's latest performance and appearance at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on September 7, he gushed about the potential opportunity to collaborate with BTS. Per a report by Variety, Conan brushed off the question, saying he'd be too "intimidated" to work with the group. The realization came after Conan's recent trip to South Korea, where he notes "the music industry there is so different."
"I got to tour their offices and it was just wild. They have sets inside of office buildings that look like houses — it looks like a normal house but it's in an office — anyways, you'll get it later," Conan explained.
However, this doesn't mean a Conan Gray x BTS song is entirely off the table. The record-breaking K-Pop group is no stranger to a good collab — see "Boy With Love" featuring Halsey and "Idol" featuring Nicki Minaj, among other bops. They have even been open about teaming up with other artists for more music in an interview with Rolling Stone, where V specifically name-dropped Conan as a dream collaborator.
So, if you need us, we'll be streaming Superache and Proof as we wait for these musical forces to bring their talents together. ??
