Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli Split a Year After She Admits to Affair With Her Alleged Stalker
Colin Firth and Livia Giuggioli have split a year after she had an affair.
Livia previously admitted to having an affair with an Italian journalist, who was later accused of stalking her, during a period when she and Colin were separated.
The journalist, Marco Brancaccia, denied the stalking rumors.
Anyone remember that wild story last year about Colin Firth, Livia Giuggioli, and her affair with her alleged stalker? Well, E! just got an update about their marriage, and it looks like they've decided to finally call it quits after 22 years of marriage.
According to their reps, Colin and Livia have decided to separate. The official statement said, "Colin and Livia Firth have separated. They maintain a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children. They kindly ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."
This announcement comes more than a year after Colin and Livia made headlines when she admitted to having an affair with an Italian journalist named Marco Brancaccia while she and Colin were separated. At the time, their rep told British newspaper The Times, "A few years ago, Colin and Livia privately made the decision to separate. During that time, Livia briefly became involved with former friend Mr. Brancaccia. The Firths have since reunited.”
When all this was unfolding, Livia also accused Marco of stalking her, prompting an investigation by the Italian police. Marco denied this and claimed she just wanted to cover up their affair. He told The Times, "I wrote an email to Colin about my relationship with Livia, which I now regret sending, and she filed a complaint against me for stalking out of fear that I could go public with what she had revealed to me about her marriage and work.”
As of now, it's not clear whether Colin and Livia will go through an official divorce.
