Co-founder and director of “In His Image” speaks to ladies’ auxiliary group
Regina Brooks, co-founder and director of “In His Image” described the ministry to those gathered for the Cherokee District Women’s Missionary Auxiliary Tuesday, July 9, at Afton Grove Baptist Church.
Formed in 2013, “In His Image” mentors young ladies ages 12 to 18. The ministry is designed to teach self-awareness of who one is in Christ and guide the young ladies through the difficult teen years. The mission of the ministry is threefold, to:
– help adolescent girls have a safe place to address difficult issues and for them to learn who God says they are;
– teach the young ladies leadership skills through community service; and
– empower girls to know their self-worth
The ministry is based on Genesis 1:26, “…and God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…”
Vice President Nancy Washburn opened the meeting, in the absence of President Cindy Allen, followed by a special song by Patricia Johnson.
After the presentation by Brooks, the auxiliary attended to business, which consisted of approving the minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report.
The host church provided a salad supper in its family life center, with Cornerstone Baptist Church providing desserts.
The next meeting is set for Oct. 8 and will be hosted by Cornerstone Baptist Church.
