Cindy Crawford Has the Absolute Best Outlook Ever on Aging That Deserves a Standing Ovation
Cindy Crawford recently discussed all things aging with Haute Living.
“I know all the ways that I’ve aged…being told I’m ageless isn’t right.”
The supermodel explained why it is “lucky” to age.
Whether Cindy Crawford is strutting down the runway, posting gorgeous no-makeup selfies, or sharing her fitness tips (butt workout, anyone?), the supermodel always keeps things real. And while she’s known for being a timeless beauty, Crawford, 56, has never been one to shy away from her age.
Recently, Crawford opened up about all things aging and why she’s proud to be exactly where she is now. She explained in an interview with Haute Living that while some call her “ageless,” she rejects the statement, candidly stating: “It puts too much pressure on me. I know all the ways that I’ve aged. My face has gotten much thinner; my mouth isn’t as full. Being told I’m ageless isn’t right.”
There is value in aging, the supermodel explained. “I’m not 25, so why should I be trying to look 25? Why do I want someone to mistake me for a 25-year-old? I’ve had children,” she continued in the Haute Living interview. “I have all this life experience.”
She also explained her uncertainty in her modeling career related to aging and surpassing that 25 years old mark. “And then, all of a sudden, I was still modeling at 26, 27, 30, 35, 40, and now, 56,” Crawford said. “ So I’ve learned to embrace the different stages. I’m not 56 trying to do the same jobs that I did when I was 25 and 30. I’ve evolved.”
Crawford also recognizes the influence she has in our “youth-obsessed culture” to inspire women and let them know that age is not a limiting factor. She sometimes thinks “screw it,” and toys with the idea of not wanting to model anymore—“But then I think, gosh, then I’m just further telling women that at a certain age, we’re just expired, and we should go on the shelf. Do I want to play into that for women? And so I don’t,” she explains.
She doesn’t deny that she sometimes doesn’t “feel as confident,” she appreciates keeping it “real” and values her authenticity. “Aging is what happens if we’re lucky,” she said. “It means that I’m alive.”
Cindy embraces her age, and there’s no doubt she looks amazing at the same time. Part of that is due to taking great care of her skin—check out some of her go-to products below:
