Christie Brinkley feels 'grateful' as she turns 69: 'Those days of hiding our age are over!'
Christie Brinkley isn’t just celebrating her 69th birthday — she’s honoring herself at every age.
The model took to Instagram on Thursday to share a collage of magazine covers, all of which highlighted her age over the years.
“My days were NUMBERED! Literally! Christie at 40, 45, 50 55,60,” Brinkley began her caption. “I present the evidence here on these smattering of the covers all proclaiming my age! Lol! Even I got into the numbers act myself when I put my age on the cover of my book ‘Timeless Beauty’. I was 61 and I wrote that book because we have more control these days over those numbers than they have over us!”
Brinkley added that thanks to expanded knowledge in areas like “makeup and wardrobe to dermatology,” people have “reshaped those numbers so they don’t represent what they used to.”
“Those days of hiding our age are over,” the Vacation actress declared. “Im 69 and I feel GRATEFUL! And I’ve learned that gratitude is the key to happiness! I have survived a lot, and what didn’t kill me, did indeed make me stronger, wiser, and I truly look at each day as a gift to celebrate! I love my life! I love my job. I’m always looking for products or projects that will make people happy and that in turn makes me happy! Win win!”
She concluded her post with, “So go ahead proclaim your age, celebrate the years ! Make those numbers your b****! You got this! We got this!”
Brinkley has previously spoken about her aging philosophy. She told Long Island Woman in August 2022 that it’s “really important not to focus on the numbers.”
“I think it’s really great if you can forget how old you are and keep just charging ahead, doing the stuff you love doing,” she noted. “I know people that are focused on the numbers and what that represents. I think it’s really important to just be more aware of how you feel."
In February 2022, she used Instagram to reflect on a Buzzfeed article that listed celebrities over 50, writing, "Women of every age belong everywhere they feel like being, and we can do whatever we set our minds to. We may not always succeed or win, but we’re old enough to learn from our mistakes and keep growing and evolving so we are a force to be reckoned with. There are a million older and wiser women out there reshaping and rebranding the numbers. The 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond just ain’t what they used to be??"
