“To be able to attract somebody of Christiane’s gravitas and business building caliber is precisely what Pattern Beauty needs in order to continue executing on my vision for it to become the preeminent leader in the curly, coily, and tight textured hair category,” said Ross in a statement. “I am thrilled to welcome her to the Pattern Beauty family and look forward to her working closely with us for many years to come.”
Pendarvis was previously co-president of Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty. She’s had more than 25 years of experience in leading direct-to-consumer and omnichannel retail businesses, working in retail general management and merchandising for Old Navy and Victoria’s Secret. “Known for her ability to translate insights into business strategies, she has extensive strategic planning, assortment development, digital commerce, and retail operations experience and has driven large-scale technology infrastructure projects,” noted Pattern Beauty.
Pointing to how Pattern Beauty “fearlessly celebrates Black beauty in all its forms,” Pendarvis said, “Tracee, Rachel Gilman, and the entire Pattern Beauty team have built a brand with superior quality products. Their unique understanding of the specific hair care needs of their customers is the reason why the brand has such high customer loyalty and engagement. I’m excited to be a part of Pattern Beauty’s continued growth and expansion.”
Launched by Ross in 2019 after the actress saw white space in the beauty industry — working with California-based brand incubator Beach House Group — Pattern Beauty’s hair products were sold direct-to-consumer at patternbeauty.com and exclusively at Ulta Beauty before expanding into Sephora U.S. and Canada in 2021 and into Boots in the U.K. in 2022. This year the brand introduced its first tool, a blow dryer. Pattern Beauty is now found at 10 retailers globally, with more than 50 stock keeping units to wash, style, treat and heat all hair types.
