Chrissy Teigen's "Heart Stopped" During Her Twitter Feud with Trump
Earlier this week, President Donald Trump and Chrissy Teigen were involved in a Twitter spat when he criticized the TV personality and her husband, John Legend, in a string of tweets.
Clapping back, Teigen called the president a "pussy ass bitch," which went viral.
On The Ellen DeGeneres Show today, Teigen explained that her "heart stopped" when she first read the messages.
These days, it seems like everyone is in a Twitter fight with Donald Trump, but few can take the president down like the platform's queen bee, Chrissy Teigen.
Earlier this week, the president vented online after John Legend, Teigen's husband, appeared on an NBC special report about criminal justice reform. Trump, who took the program as a personal attack, launched into a Twitter spree that included the jab, "Musician @johnlegend, and his filthy mouthed wife, are talking now about how great it is - but I didn't see them around when we needed help getting it passed."
Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today, Teigen said her "heart stopped" when she first read the tweet. (She didn't even see it right away, because Trump had blocked her on Twitter.) "So, someone had to send me screenshots, and my heart stopped, because at that moment, you know that you're about to get the wildest group of people," she explained on the talk show.
Teigen joked that Trump's insults weren't wrong: "Those two things are true. John is boring. I do have a filthy mouth." But she was still riled up on Sunday night when she first read the tweets. "It was a weird feeling," she told DeGeneres. "I was really angry. I think my eyes filled up with water just at the shock of it. I can't believe this really happened right now. He just goes on these rants, usually very late at night for him. You just wait for him to say something, but you don't think it's going to be you."
Through the night, Teigen and Legend sat on the couch debating the perfect response. Ultimately, Teigen crafted a biting, expletive-filled clapback: "lol what a pussy ass bitch. tagged everyone but me. an honor, mister president." Naturally, her three-worded diss went viral. "We're still working out how to copyright that," she joked.

It helped Teigen to see how her fans and friends responded to her epic drag. "I had so many group chats going that night of just hilarious people and people making funny videos sending to me," she said. "So, then you laugh about it."
