Chickens, a goose and restaurants on the loose: The latest in OKC area food and dining
This summer in the Oklahoma City metro-area has been a hot one and not just in terms of the weather.
If you've been watching things in and around OKC, you may have noticed that some restaurants we knew were coming soon are officially open. And with no sign of slowing down, there appear to be even more on the way, along with some great food and dining specials and events to keep you busy.
Midtown OKC gets a golden Goose
With it, August brought to Midtown the official opening of The Goose, 1210 N Hudson Ave. The spot is offering up hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, salads and more. Plus, you can get a draft beer, a draft cocktail or any of their bottled and canned selections to wash your meal down.
The Goose is open daily at 11 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Plaza District's first of two new Japanese restaurants opens
The Plaza is doubling down on new Japanese restaurants this summer with one already open and another on the way. Both spots look to add options for sushi to the neighborhood along with other Japanese and Japanese-fusion fare.
Oshiki Japanese Steakhouse, 1738 NW 16th St. found its way to the Plaza and is now open daily. The spot offers up hibachi along with many other options. For more information or to book a reservation, visit https://oshikiok.com.
Also set to open, just up the block at 1732 NW 16th St., before summer ends is Takaramono. While a final date for opening has not been set, the restaurant posted saying a late summer opening was in store.
Hot happenings around OKC
Enjoy the final days of summer at The Ambassador Hotel, 1200 N Walker Ave., during their Wednesday Poolside for the People events. Every Wednesday through the end of September the hotel will open the back terrace and invite guests in to enjoy summer vibes and Neapolitan-style pizzas, spritzes, hard seltzers from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/poolside-for-the-people-tickets-933528858947 for more information or to reserve your space for free.
If you'd rather sip on a spritz while taking in panoramic views of the city, you can reserve a spot for Vast's Mile High Spritz in the Sky. Choose from one of eight cocktails, crafted with summer and the Amalfi coast in mind and relish in the remaining days of summer. The experience is running Fridays and Saturdays at least through early September. Reservations are $10 per person and can be made on OpenTable.
Lush patio space FLORA, 15 N Robinson Ave., wants guests to embrace its name at a Build-Your-Own-Bouquet event Sept. 8. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., sip complimentary champagne and create a floral arrangement to take home on the patio while enjoying the sunshine. Event cost is $45 and can be booked via Eventbrite.

'Moore' to love at Teriyaki Island
A new restaurant popped up in Moore in May and is adding to the options available for residents in the area. Teriyaki Island, 1110 N Eastern Ave., offers up bento-style Teriyaki boxes with your choice of proteins, served alongside rice and salad. You can also choose from a selection of stir-fry dishes, chicken wings, chicken bites and more.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.
