Cheryl Burke Reveals She Tested Positive for COVID-19 Ahead of ‘DWTS’ Taping
Dancing With the Stars pro Cheryl Burke has tested positive for COVID-19, announcing the news via Instagram on Sunday. Cheryl confirmed that she is fully vaccinated and has a breakthrough case of the virus, which will prevent her from returning to the ballroom on Monday to dance with her partner, Cody Rigsby.
“I have really bad news. I am positive,” Cheryl said in an emotional video. “Which means I have Covid. I just got the news now, and I’ve been anticipating, just waiting around since 7 o’clock this morning. It’s 4:07 p.m. here in L.A. And I’ve been feeling progressively worse. But yeah. The PCR test came back, and it came back positive. And I feel so bad for Cody. I feel like I’m letting him down. I just feel like shit, to be quite honest. And it’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday and the show’s tomorrow.”
“I figured I should let you guys know since I’ve been as open and as real and vulnerable as I could be here,” she added. “I just hope I didn’t spread it. For those of you who don’t think Covid is a real thing, it’s fucking real, dude. So I have to quarantine for 10 days and I’ve been ordered to stay home. I’m in my car because I just don’t know what to do with myself, to be quite honest. But I’m not planing on getting out of my car, I’m just driving around my neighborhood at the moment. Pulled over, obviously. I don’t know what to say. I’ll be in bed. I can’t believe this happened.”
At this point, it’s unknown what Cheryl’s diagnosis means for tonight’s episode of Dancing With the Stars, but the priority is obviously her health before anything else. Wishing her all the best for a speedy recovery. ??
