Chehalis Tribe offers a Fourth of July blast at fireworks stands
Jul. 2—In what has become a holiday tradition for buyers and sellers alike, fireworks vendors at the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation in Oakville will continue to sell through the Fourth of July.
The stands offer a wide variety of explosives at comparable prices, or cheaper, as sellers do not charge state and local taxes while operating on tribal land.
"Come out and have some fun," Chehalis Tribal Chairman Dustin Klatush said. "Come out, light off some fireworks and have some fun."
The scene early Monday afternoon showed a steady stream of buyers looking to get into the holiday spirit, with business expected to pick up as the day went on.
Klatush said his fireworks stand saw big business over the weekend as preparations for Independence Day continue.
Across the state, fireworks are legal to light off through midnight on the Fourth of July, though some local jurisdictions place stricter regulations on the sale and use of fireworks.
The Chehalis Tribe will have stands remaining open to sell fireworks along Anderson Road on July 5 and 6.
For those wanting to leave the fireworks to the experts, the Chehalis Tribe will host their own Fourth of July show, which typically begins just after dusk.
The show will take place near the Chehalis Tribe Community Center, located at 420 Howanut Road in Oakville. The Chehalis Tribe will have firefighters, ambulances and other first responders on hand.
"Come out and have a good time," Klatush said.
