Check Out This Fan-made 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' 3D Projection System
Yu-Gi-Oh! is one of the most popular trading card games ever created, but many fans have always wanted to make the game even better by seeing their duel monsters come to life just like in the manga/anime. Setting out to make this dream a reality, YouTube channel SuperZouloux created a 3D stereoscopic projection system that does just that.
Taking seven months to complete, the SuperZouloux created a game mat that can recognize a pre-set of cards and enters inputs into an application. The application offers a 3D model representation of card artwork and controls camera movement to express attack sequences and tracking/recording duels.
It is interesting to note, along with creating the mat and 3D modeling each card from scratch, SuperZouloux also had to implant a special chip on each of the 3,600 pre-set cards to work with the application.
