When it comes to email etiquette, people have a lot of ~opinions~. But if you ask me, there is nothing quite as delightful as receiving an email with a truly unhinged sign off.

So I asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to share the weirdest and wildest ways they've seen someone sign off on an email, and they did not disappoint. Here's what they had to say:

1."'Thanking you, dearest one, and blessing the hours you have left.'"
"It still scares me wondering exactly what they meant. Work hours? Life hours? WHAT?"
2."I once got a 'Warmly (but not kindly),' with their name afterwards in an introductory email about a job."
"Reader, let me tell you — I have spent a ridiculous amount of my life pondering the meaning of that sign off. I did not reply."
3."I sign off: 'Ciao, Bella' or 'Jingle, Bella' (Only in December)."
"Or if someone annoys me:
'Kindest,
Bella'
OR
'Best,
Bella'
Because I deserve the title. I’m reading it as I’m the kindest or best for putting up with you, whilst also passing on implied wishes or regards on the reader's end."
4."I'm a birth worker, and the amount of times I've seen 'At your cervix,' is not negligible."

5."My coworker and I used to sign our emails to each other with 'Yrs in Christ,' until I accidentally ended my resignation letter with that sign off because I sent it to my coworker to proof read first. So basically, I said, 'I quit; you suck. Yrs in Christ, (Dustin)'."
6."Once got an email from a partner in our firm that signed off with, 'If anyone cares, Bob' ??."
7."Marine science people sometimes use 'Best fishes,' which is either cute or odd."

8."'Stay tuned...' It just seems vaguely ominous."
9."I sent daily policy changes to my workers and signed them 'Pandemically yours.' The changes were sometimes multiple times a day."
10."Back in the olden days, when email was new to me, my friend changed my email signature to 'Madame Dominatrix.' She thought it was hilarious as I was sort of vanilla. I had no clue, as it was a blind signature, until I received a reply to an email from my very concerned/intrigued English lit professor. Made for an awkward semester."
11."A roommate I wasn't on good terms with emailed me about her move-out date and ended it, 'Remember the name! [insert her name]'."
12.“At a loss for words, Megan.”
13."'Have the day you deserve.' I never knew if that was a veiled threat or not."

14."I signed off on a legit work email once with a Hamilton lyric, 'I have the honor to be your obedient servant, A'."
"My last name is a one-syllable word that fits in there nicely. Still, none of the people I sent it to even batted an eye. That hurt my soul."
15."My boss and I both had a terrible start to the work week and they signed off with, 'Have a Monday,' and I felt that shit in my soul."
16."I worked as a social worker in an inpatient psych hospital and signed off with, 'Email my heart,' #teambritney."

17."'See you in hell'."
"This was from a coworker I was actually quite good friends with, so I loved it."
18."Some guy at my work uses his Bitmoji as his signature."
19."I worked with someone for a brief time who had the email sign off, 'With palpable vibes,' then his name. This was the talk of the entire office. No one understood what it meant and it also felt so gross at the same time."

25.During the peak of The Handmaid’s Tale, I admit I signed off a few times with, 'Blessed be the fruit.' Then I realized not everyone watches The Handmaid’s Tale…."

26."The HR lead at my husband's work uses this as their email signature:"
"Have *′¨)
?.·′?.·*′¨) ?.·*¨)
(?.·′ (?.·′ * a Wonderful Day!
My husband co-opted it and uses it as part of his out-of-office auto-reply when he has time off, but to make it even more extra he uses Comic Sans as the font. The reactions are 100% generationally split: Boomers go out of their way to say how much they liked it when they see him after his vacation time, but Gen X and younger will PM him something to the effect of 'MY EYES! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT TO ME ??'."
27."'Hope you’re staying positive and testing negative,' is still my fave that I saw during Covid times."
28."I had to scroll through my work email to find this because I just remember it being so completely absurd and nonsensical, but this is how a co-worker signed-off recently:"
"'It's a little cloudy out today and there's a cool breeze coming off the river, but oops, time for The Young and the Restless, *Insert name here*'
???"
29.And finally, "My sign-off is 'Smooth Sailing!' and people absolutely hate it. It gives me a sick joy when they complain to me about it. I do work in maritime so it's not completely random."
