Celebrate the Fourth in the EUP
EASTERN UPPER PENINSULA — Communities across the Eastern Upper Peninsula are preparing to celebrate July 4 with fireworks, floats and fun.

Sault Ste. Marie
The annual Fourth of July parade, which includes dozens of cars, floats and marchers, will be lining up behind U-Haul Moving and Storage at 7 p.m. The parade route will march north up Ashmun and down Portage. After the parade comes to an end on Magazine Street, people will converge on Brady Park at dusk to watch the fireworks display over the St. Marys River.
The first few blocks of the parade are reserved as a quiet zone until it passes 12th Avenue. Parade participants will be competing for several awards, including best float, best walking group and more.
Paradise
The Paradise July 4 parade will move south down M-23 starting at 1 p.m. and end at the community center. The community center will also host the fireworks display at dusk.
Les Cheneaux
Les Cheneaux will begin its celebration with the Red, White and Blue 5k and whitefish dinner, followed by a fireworks display hosted by the local Lions Club on July 3. On July 4, the city is hosting a pancake breakfast at the EMS & Clark Township Fire Department.

Newberry
In Newberry, the Kiwanis Club is returning to host the parade for the 45th year in a row, starting at 10 a.m. and moving east on Victory Way. Participants can win up to $1,000 in prizes for their parade floats.
Drummond Island
Drummond Island is hosting a series of events on July 4, starting with several kids competitions and games, such as 3-legged races, pie eating contests and more. The parade begins at noon at the Water Street Cafe before heading down Pine Street to end at the elementary school ball park.
The kids events, a firefighters bike give-a-way and more will be hosted at the elementary ball park after the parade. The fireworks display will also be held at the ball park at dusk.
