Cate Blanchett Wore Custom Louis Vuitton to the Oscars Tonight
The Oscars may be the movie industry's biggest awards night but there's no denying it's also Hollywood's peak sartorial celebration. Though we certainly want to know who will take home those coveted gold statues, as all of the stars hit the red carpet in their most glamorous gowns and dapper suits, we're also naturally enthralled by the fantastic fashion moments of the evening. Case in point: Cate Blanchett, who walked the red carpet in a gorgeous custom blue Louis Vuitton look, which featured a navy silk skirt and an asymmetrical teal velvet top, from a never-before-seen archival collection and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. Her earrings and rings were from the Louis Vuitton High Jewelry collection. She also paired her outfit with a small blue ribbon, which was made by refugees, as a sartorial symbol of solidarity.
In an interview on the champagne carpet with ABC before the show, Blanchett revealed that she is "nervous" and "overwhelmed" for tonight's ceremony but also "buzzing off of everyone's excitement."
The star, who's nominated for the Best Actress award this evening for her role as Lydia Tár in the psychological thriller Tár (this film is also up for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay) has been making the red carpet rounds this season for her critically acclaimed role. Tonight, she's nominated in the same category as Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Ana de Armas (Blonde), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), and Michelle Williams (The Fablemans).
