Cardi B disses Trump supporters in another fiery political statement
Singer Cardi B is positioning herself as an unexpected political voice. On Saturday, in her third political Instagram post in as many days, Cardi B shared this message: “All you Trump supporters should work for free while the government is shut down to show your support…” In the comment section, she wrote, “mAkE aMeRicA GrEaT AgAIn ! Headass”.

While the “I Like It” singer may seem like an unanticipated voice against the government shutdown, currently in its 29th day, her explanation of the shutdown has been called far better than the ones given by “the talking heads on TV.”
On Wednesday, Cardi B posted her first post about the shutdown in a video that went quickly viral for its candor, and language, and intelligence. “Now, I know a lot of y’all don’t care because y’all don’t work for the government or y’all probably don’t even have a job, but this shit is really fucking serious bro, this shit is crazy. Our country is in a hellhole right now,” she said.
Political commentators, like Ana Navarro, shared the singer’s message, applauding her well-placed rage.
Colorful language and eyelids, but the message is loud and clear and the sentiment is shared by many Americans. @iamcardib is mad as hell and scared by the continued instability and stupidity of this White House and government. https://t.co/G96YVgv0Et

Of course, there were detractors of her comment, but Cardi B addressed those naysayers head on in a follow-up post that showed politicians and journalists on MSNBC discussing her video. She accompanied the MSNBC clip with the words: “Soo many people under my comments talking about I shouldn’t talk politics ,I don’t know what I’m talking about , I’m dumb ! Well I know alittle something something..I know 800,000 federal government workers won’t be getting paid till the shutdown is over and government assistants program are shutdown as well as in NO WELFARE , NO WIC,SECTION 8 .I know it’s a little boring to watch the news but it won’t kill ya to visit some IG pages of people that talk about what’s going on in our community like @shaunking@tamikadmallory and shiiieeett sometimes uncle snoop and Charlamgne be saying some shit that goes over ya heads .PAY ATTENTION !!! This can go on for months and it will affect our homes and Country .”

Her third post, which went live Saturday, was an overt insult to Trump supporters, and came just minutes before President Trump addressed the public with an offer to end the shutdown; a proposal Democrats called a “nonstarter.”
In a story on Wednesday, no longer on Cardi B’s page due to the timespan of stories, Cardi B contextualized Trump within her world of rap music. “Trump is like a clout chaser. He’s like one of these new rap artists—they follow, they do the most for clout. And Trump wants that. Some people can have money, all the power in the world, but they really want that fame. His legacy, he wants to go down as that bad person,” Cardi said. “He loves to interrupt the peace. Trump wants to be cool with basketball teams, football teams and black people. He want to be cool with them. He wants validation from what’s popping right now.”
Her words are certainly controversial, but Cardi B is spreading her truth — and educating a lot of people about the shutdown in the process.
