Car show returns to First Fridays
Jul. 2—GOSHEN — July's First Fridays is full of family fun and classic cars.
Presented by Jayco, the Great Goshen Car Show will feature "mind-blowingly-cool" classic, antique, and muscle cars to Main Street from 5-9 p.m. Friday.
Advance registration to participate in the car show is closed, but there will be in-person registration for the rain-or-shine event beginning at 4:30 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. or when space is filled. Day-of registrants should enter at the corner of Main Street and East Lincoln Avenue. Once parked, day-of registrants should head to the registration table in front of the Goshen Courthouse. The cost is $10 and cash only. Vehicles must remain parked until 9 p.m.
Vehicles must run independently and have no broken or chipped glass, leaks, or major mechanical issues. No burnouts will be permitted. Vehicle interiors should be clean and free of debris, no hate speech or political affiliation stickers or decor will be permitted. American flags are permitted. No props or decors are permitted outside the vehicle, nor tents or canopies, but registrants are welcome to bring a chair to sit beside their vehicle. Do not touch other vehicles without the owner's consent.
Vehicles may begin arriving at 4:30 p.m. Pre-registered vehicles can only enter from West Lincoln Avenue onto South Main, and day-of registrants only from East Lincoln Avenue onto North Main. Vehicles will not be permitted to enter anywhere other than their designated car show entrance. Vehicles arriving before 4:30 p.m. will not be permitted to enter the grounds.
The People's Choice Award presentation will start at 7:50 p.m.
Throughout the rest of the evening, there will be a host of activities for families to enjoy, including free entertainment on the Miller Poultry Main Stage at Main Street and Jefferson Street. From 5-6 p.m., Ben Traverse Duo will perform. From 6:30-7:30 p.m., The Dawg will take center stage. Following the awards show, from 8-9:30 p.m., Big Daddy Duprees will round out the night.
Guests can also enjoy an artisan showcase on East Washington Street, food trucks on West Washington Street, or stop by the beer tent on South Main Street.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
The Window, 223 S. Main St., will host a dinner from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Elephant Bar, 227 S. Main St., will offer a Hot Beats Cold Treats DJ dance party.
Shirley's Popcorn, 106 N. Main St., will offer patrons the opportunity to pick up a bag of Patriotic Popcorn, and get a free koozie.
El Imperial, 113 S. Main St., will be out on the sidewalk selling street food options. After First Fridays, keep the party going with $5 Lemon Drops starting at 9 p.m.
Fables Books, 215 S. Main St., will offer a create-a-bookmark for free from 5-7 p.m., and an Author Meet-And-Greet with Stephanie J. Salisbury, from 6-8 p.m. Salisbury is the author of "A.J. the Armadillo" and "Boz the Bee," illustrated children's books that teach kindness, respect and acceptance.
Cressy and Everett, 210-A S. Main St., will have mini cornhole and popcorn.
Hive of Light, 119 S. Main St., will offer free face painting, balloon animals, and a magic show.
Goshen Historical Society, 124 S. Main St., will have a photo booth from 5-8 p.m.
Woldruff's Footwear, 129 S. Main St., will have 20% off sandals.
Braly's Barber Den, 135 S. Main St., will be giving live haircuts in front of the shop.
