Camilla Parker Bowles Confirms the Rumor That Royals Can't Eat Garlic
Our hearts (and our tastebuds) ached for Meghan Markle when we learned that, as Duchess of Sussex, she can't eat garlic. For a foodie like Meghan, this is tragic, but it's a rule that reportedly comes straight from Queen Elizabeth II herself.
The good news is that that rule only seems to be in place when Meghan (and the other royals) are dining at royal events and state banquets at home and abroad. The bad news is that the garlic rule isn't just a rumor. Prince Charles' wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, confirmed the rule during an appearance on MasterChef Australia.
"I hate to say this, but garlic. Garlic is a no-no," she said when asked about banned royal foods, according to AOL.
"So garlic is a no-no?" Gary Mehigan, one of the judges on the show, asked. "Because you’re talking, chatting?"
"Yes, exactly. So you always have to lay off the garlic," Camilla explained.
So, there you have it, straight from a longtime in-law of the royal family. Our hearts go out to you Meghan, in your times of garlic-less need to come.
