Calpak’s New Collection Includes Its Most Spacious Suitcase Yet

When it comes to the luggage you take no matter where you’re traveling, I’m a firm believer that what you’re carrying is an extension of your personal style— just like any outfit. My mom has been a flight attendant for 37 years, so I might have a flight-attendant-daughter instinct to always look out for travel bags that are compact, include all the key features (lightweight material, trolley sleeves, and plenty of pockets), and still work as a part of my travel uniform.

And that’s why I’m swooning over the brand-new Hue Collection from Calpak. The California-based luggage brand has been an innovator in travel bags since 1989, and this new collection has everything I look for in the design of a bag: timeless style, subtle-yet-sophisticated colors, and complete functionality. The Hue Collection, like the name hints, has a utilitarian color palette that offers seven different bags in black, hazel, moss, and pink sand (a millennial-pink inspired shade). For a monochromatic look, you can build a complete travel bag system — a duffel, a toiletry bag, carry-on luggage, and a check-size suitcase — all in one shade, or you can mix and match the complementary colors as you please.

The Hue Collection adds two new luggage styles to Calpak’s assortment. While the trunk suitcase is the brand’s roomiest option yet, I’m most excited about the carry-on suitcase with a front pocket that’s big enough to hold a laptop, and even includes a protective sleeve for models up to 15 inches. For me, that essentially eliminates the need to carry on a personal item like a backpack or shoulder bag.
