Burger King Officially Launched Their New Vegan Burgers And TBH, It's About Time
Update, November 12, 2019:
Burger King has officially launched their second meatless menu option in locations across Europe. As of right now, the Rebel Chicken King sandwich is not part of this wide spread release, but the Rebel Whopper is making its debut in over 2,400 restaurants in Europe, according to CNN.
Not only that, but an Impossible Burger option will now be available on the kids menu as well. Locations in Europe and the United States will be testing out an Impossible burger with pickles, mustard, and ketchup on a sesame seed bun that can be made into a cheeseburger and will be a kids meal option. In the United States, the trial will roll out to 180 restaurants in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Augusta, Georgia; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Buffalo, New York.

A meatless hamburger may have seemed like an oxymoron a few years ago, but they're now popping up at fast food restaurants everywhere. Burger King already debuted their Impossible Whopper a couple months ago, and now they are set to launch more plant-based menu options.
The Rebel Whopper and the Rebel Chicken King sandwiches were first introduced in Burger King's Sweden locations. The sandwiches use soy and wheat protein for their patties.
Plant-based options have been a major selling point for the chain since its first release earlier this year. According to a Cowen research report obtained by Business Insider, stores were selling about 45 Impossible burgers per day, and this new meal also started convincing customers to pay more. "Checks with the plant-based burger tend to be $10 or more, compared to the average Burger King order of $7.36 in 2018," they wrote.
So the new vegan burgers are definitely a result of demand and a way to diversify the options available for vegan customers, and we're so here for it. Keep an eye out to see if these new menu options will be available at a Burger King near you.
