Britney's Instagram Post After Her Dad Agreed To Step Down As Her Conservator Is So Telling
Britney Spears has posted on Instagram following the news that her father, Jamie Spears, is willing to step down as the conservator of her estate after 13 years.
The news broke yesterday that Jamie's legal team have said although there are "no actual grounds for suspending or removing" him from his role as Britney's conservator, he would be willing to step aside due to the "public battle with his daughter" not being in her best interests.
This was in response to the Free Britney movement, which has gained traction in the past few months, particularly after Britney testified that Jamie was abusing his role as Britney's conservator.
After Jamie's legal team released the statement, Britney posted a picture on Instagram of a woman seen from the back, with flowers in her hair, wearing a pink dress with a butterfly on her shoulder.
Fans clearly loved the imagery, with one commenting: "We’re one step closer to your freedom!!!!!" Another added, "So happy for you QUEEN," while one fan quoted Britney's lyrics, commenting, "Stronger than yesterday."
According to Variety, Britney had previously testified, "I’ve lied and told the whole world 'I’m OK and I’m happy'... It’s a lie. I thought I just maybe if I said that enough maybe I might become happy. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised. But now I’m telling you the truth... I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m so angry it’s insane. And I’m depressed. I cry every day."
Britney's mother, Lynne Spears, has also released a statement via her lawyers saying she's "pleased Jamie has agreed to step down,” adding, “Lynne entered into this conservatorship to protect her daughter almost three years ago. She has accomplished what she set out to do."
