Bristol Palin takes a swipe at parents who don't vaccinate their kids
Much the way she’s pro-life, Bristol Palin is pro-vaccination. The Teen Mom OG star weighed in on the hot-button topic on social media during a Q&A session with fans. It started with Palin reacting to a comment she received on Instagram that called her a hypocrite for being pro-life but fine with hunting animals — like moose.
“I’m glad you acknowledge moose have heartbeats, but where are you when acknowledging there’s life, there’s a heartbeat, with… an unborn child in the womb. All these people who want to rush to the defense of animals, but can’t even sit here and acknowledge that that’s life with a human body it just completely blows my mind,” she said on her Instagram Story. “Some of you people… it just blows my mind completely.”
One of her followers wrote that those people are “probably the same ones that don’t vaccinate their children but keep their pets up to date.”
“Whoever wrote this comment is hilarious because that is super funny and so true,” Palin said.
Was that a swipe at Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry? Palin’s remark comes after Lowry revealed she didn’t vaccinate her youngest son.
“I definitely think this is a controversial topic, and I don’t want to lose listeners because of my opinion — but I did vaccinate Isaac, because to me, I didn’t know any better, and I gave — I let them vaccinate him with whatever they basically said that he needed. And I feel like I was ignorant, and didn’t do research, and didn’t know any better,” Lowry said of her 9-year-old.
She went on to explain how she started to educate herself more on the topic with her second child, 5-year-old son Lincoln, by doing things like watching “documentaries on Netflix.”
“Lux is 18 months and he is not vaccinated,” she added. “He hasn’t ever really been sick, and for me, I just think the more research that I do, and the more educated I’ve become, I just don’t vaccinate him.”
The vaccination debate is a divisive one in the parenting world and more relevant than ever with the current measles outbreak flaring up in the Pacific Northwest.
