Bradley Cooper Won't Perform as Jackson Maine at the Oscars 2019
Bradley Cooper will perform "Shallow" at the Oscars with Lady Gaga, but not in costume as his character from A Star Is Born.
"Shallow" from A Star Is Born is nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards, and fans are excited to see Cooper and Gaga reunite for the performance.
The co-stars recently performed a rendition of the hit song during Lady Gaga's Las Vegas residency.
Bradley Cooper is taking the stage at the Oscars 2019, to perform a duet with his A Star Is Born co-star Lady Gaga, but his rock star persona from the movie probably won't be back.
In an interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (per Entertainment Tonight), Cooper has revealed that, having watched back his Las Vegas duet with Lady Gaga, he was less-than-impressed with his own performance. Cooper explained, "that guy certainly isn't a rock star."
The actor also revealed that his character from A Star Is Born, country singer Jackson Maine, appears to have disappeared altogether. He told Colbert, "I watched the video back... and I just sort of look like this idiot from Philadelphia singing with Lady Gaga... but I was like, 'Oh, Jackson's gone.'"
Cooper's revelation that his unforgettable character, Jackson Maine, won't be putting in an appearance at the Oscars is probably devastating for fans of the movie. But having put in extensive work to create Jackson's dulcet tones, Cooper's voice has likely changed since filming ended. As he told Colbert: "He's gone. I'm not gonna try to get him back. But it will be me singing."
Cooper also recently told E! News that he was "terrified" about performing live onstage with Lady Gaga at the Oscars. But A Star Is Born fans will be certain of the actor's singing prowess.
