Bradley Cooper Took His 2-Year-Old Daughter Lea to Her First Public Event
Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk's two-year-old daughter Lea de Seine had a major milestone last night: Her first public event with her dad. She was photographed on his lap during the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Lea wore a black dress with stars on it, and her blonde hair half up, and half down. She looked chic and adorable:
While Shayk and Cooper ended their relationship of four years in June, the two have remained committed to co-parenting their little girl peacefully. In July, TMZ reported that the two agreed to split physical and legal custody of Lea 50/50, although Lea's exact schedule with each parent will vary from month to month. Remarkably, they don't have a formal written agreement for this: They're so committed to Lea, they don't need one right now. Shayk and Cooper both live in New York City, so Washington, D.C. is just a short train ride away.
Shayk spoke a little about motherhood and Lea de Seine in her interview with Harper's Bazaar earlier this year. She explained why it is important to her to be authentic: “You have to be really truly yourself for your kids, otherwise you're living in a lie,” she said, adding no woman should lose their own identity after giving birth. “Tell me one reason why, just because you're a mother, you need to wear a longer skirt. No! I don't believe in that. I really don't. How is it that people think of this idea? Why should you have to change who you are and how you feel just because you become a mother? I'm like, tell me why. Tell me one reason! I don't believe in that. I don't understand why.”
Shayk added that balancing motherhood with her career hasn't been too hard. “There is no real challenge,” she said. “I really believe if you love something, you can prioritize your time. [Motherhood] is just an addition to your life.”
