Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale Set to Star in New Film
American Hustle co-stars Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale are rumored to be reuniting on the big screen together in a new film that could potentially even be Cooper's next directing project.
The Insneider dropped the exclusive that the film will be an adaptation of Gus Russo and Eric Dezenhall's book Best of Enemies: The Last Great Spy Story of the Cold War.
Eric Warren Singer is said to be penning the screenplay with Charles Roven set to produce. Singer also co-wrote the American Hustle screenplay with director David O. Russell, which scored both Cooper and Bale an Oscar nomination in 2014.
The production is being shopped around, with Netflix and Apple both reportedly interested in the tale of two Cold War spies who became unlikely friends.
Following CIA case officer Jack Platt and KGB agent Gennady Vasilenko, the story takes place in 1978 as the two are assigned to seduce the other into betraying his country but instead become the best of friends and blood brothers.
The book's description describes the story as being packed full of "treachery", "darkly comic misunderstandings", and "bureaucratic inanity".
