This Brad Pitt Flick Just Shot Up to the #2 Spot on Netflix’s Top Ranked Movies
During our nightly date with Netflix, we aren’t opposed to re-watching classic flicks. It isn’t that we don’t like discovering new titles (like Hubie Halloween and American Murder: The Family Next Door), but there’s something oddly nostalgic about rediscovering characters we haven’t seen in years.
That’s why we were excited when we saw that Moneyball just shot up to the number two spot on Netflix’s list of top ranked movies. The film originally premiered back in 2011, and it features Brad Pitt in his prime (not that he ever wasn’t).
The movie introduces viewers to Billy Beane (Pitt), the general manager of the Oakland A’s who’s convinced that baseball needs to be reinvented. So, he teams up with an Ivy League graduate named Peter Brand (Jonah Hill), who helps him challenge the sport’s old-fashioned traditions.
In addition to Pitt and Hill, Moneyball also stars Philip Seymour Hoffman (Art Howe), Robin Wright (Sharon), Chris Pratt (Scott Hatteberg), Stephen Bishop (David Justice), Reed Diamond (Mark Shapiro), Brent Jennings (Ron Washington), Ken Medlock (Grady Fuson), Tammy Blanchard (Elizabeth Hatteberg), Jack McGee (John Poloni), Vyto Ruginis (Chris Pittaro), Nick Searcy (Matt Keough) and Glenn Morshower (Ron Hopkins).
Moneyball was directed by Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher). Pitt also served as an executive producer alongside Michael De Luca (The Social Network) and Rachael Horovitz (Patrick Melrose). Although the story is based on the namesake book by Michael Lewis, the screenplay was written by Steven Zaillian (The Irishman) and Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing).
