Bobby Berk Says This ‘Queer Eye’ Star Has Encouraged His Singing Career Since Day 1
If you’ve ever seen an episode of Queer Eye, then you know the Fab Five—Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, Tan France, Antoni Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness—are fiercely supportive of one another. So, when Berk decided to finally take the plunge and pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a singer, you better believe his fellow Fab Five members were all about it.
Berk, 37, opened up about his burgeoning singing career in an exclusive interview with PureWow and revealed that one Queer Eye star has been encouraging him to pull a Nike and “just do it” since the beginning.
While Berk, who recently launched his lifestyle site BobbyBerk.com, says all of his fellow Fab Five members championed his singing, he says Brown was particularly vocal about it. “Karamo especially has been encouraging me since literally the first week of season one to record something,” Berk shared.
As such, his singing prowess isn’t new to the Fab Five. So, when he recently released a duet with singer-songwriter Alyssa Kayhill, “Love Is,” Berk says his co-stars, “weren’t surprised, they were just happy that I finally did it.” (Same.)
He went on to explain that, unbeknownst to viewers, singing actually plays an active role in the filming of Queer Eye. “The car scenes where we’re reading the dossier, those are usually an hour to two hours, depending on the drive. So, there’s a lot of singing that goes on in the car. But, of course, due to licensing, it doesn’t make it in the show.”
What’s playing on repeat in the Fab Five mobile? “Jonathan and I love to put on some Céline Dion. ‘I Drove All Night’ is our favorite when we’re driving,” They also love Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish.
Calling it now: Pretty soon Berk’s songs will be on repeat in their cars and ours.
