It’s been about 13 years since we last paired our plaid skirts and tights with the crescent-shaped accessory, but that dull ache that begins behind the ear and lasts all day long? That’s a memory that will stay with us forever.
Blake Lively, the actress behind Serena van der Woodsen, shared the ultimate throwback on Sunday. “Class of ’07,” the Gossip Girl alum captioned a slightly blurry photo of herself and her season 1 cast mates, including Leighton Meester (Blair Waldorf), Penn Badgley (Dan Humphrey), Chace Crawford (Nate Archibald), and Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass).

It’s not the first time this year that Lively has reveled in Gossip Girl nostalgia. Back in April, the actress shared her own pandemic-inspired rendition of the Serena and Blair meme that swept Twitter, editing the CW series’ logo to read “gloves girl” in response to “What should I wear to the supermarket?”

Don’t expect the GG resurgence to slow down any time soon. The show is getting an HBO Max reboot set to arrive next year. It’s unclear whether any of the original cast members will appear in the revival, but it seems the core cast will be comprised of relative newcomers, with perhaps the exception of 24-year-old writer and actress Tavi Gevinson.
