Blake of Bossier City celebrates National Fashion Day with show for residents
Presley Ross from The Blake of Bossier City wanted to celebrate National Fashion Day with the residents of the senior living facility. She turned for help to her friend Katy Larsen, owner of the Agora Borealis and Fashion Director of Fashion Prize.
What transpired was an upbeat event that got the residents smiling and clapping as models walked down the "runway" in unique fashions,
“It was about having fun,” Larsen said.
Among the designers was LaTasha Henderson of LaTasha V Henderson Designs, who competed on season 15 of Project Runway, among her many accomplishments.
“I love giving back, I love making people smile,” Henderson said. “Just changing people’s day into happiness makes me so excited to be doing this.”
For designer Sequoia Cameron, working with Henderson was an exciting opportunity. This was her first fashion show.
“This is a start for me and the Legends of Legacy brand,” Cameron said.
Cameron recorded the show with her phone, taking time to cheer the models as they walked the runway.
“I can’t believe it’s happening," she said. "It’s amazing, it’s breathtaking, that I was chosen to be part of this event.”
The third designer was Amy Lynn Treme, a teacher at Caddo Career and Technology Center who competed in the Prize Foundation’s Fashion Prize. With her was her daughter, Daisy, and together they walked down the runway in matching outfits to the joy of the residents.
“It’s the best feeling in the world, it’s everything I dreamed of,” Treme said.
