Billy Porter Is Channeling ’70s Disco for This Year’s Emmys
Billy Porter is doing what he does best—bringing fashion to this year’s 71st Emmy Awards.
Before stepping onto the red purple carpet for the big night, the POSE star was getting ready with Ketel One Family Made Vodka (the official spirits partner of the show), where he revealed his look for the first time. The Emmy nominee worked with designer Michael Kors to create a couture suit embellished with more than 100,000 crystals. Yes, you read that correctly.
In an exclusive with The Hollywood Reporter, Porter stated he’s been working on this look since last year’s Michael Kors fashion show.
"We went to the Michael Kors show last year, and he was doing a Studio 54 theme and we loved that,” said Porter. “So we went to him and asked him if he would collaborate with us for the Emmys, because I want to do a little ’70s disco throwback moment! It's a custom couture piece by Michael Kors, inspired by his 2020 resort collection. It is very edgy, very on the pulse. We're excited. It is a classic silhouette yet heightened."
Perhaps the best part? A custom hat created by British milliner Stephen Jones to complete the ensemble.

Martini in hand.
Striking a pose, of course.
Never change, Billy.
