Billie Eilish's 2021 Met Gala Beauty Look Was Inspired By Her Favorite Childhood Barbie
If there's one thing Billie Eilish is going to do, it's shut down a red carpet. So obviously, she did just that at the 2021 Met Gala.
Fresh off the VMAs, the Gen Z pop star's look for fashion's biggest night was an ode to the holiday Barbie of years past โ a gift the star still holds dear.

"It was my favorite thing in the world," Eilish told Met Gala co-host Keke Palmer shortly after she arrived. "I would ask for them for Christmas every single year. The dresses, genuinely that was my inspiration."
In terms of beauty, the Grammy-winner went for full glam, working with makeup artist Rob Rumsey who used BYBI Beauty for skin prep. He followed with Charlotte Tilbury makeup to create a subtle cat eye using the Luxury Palette in The Sophisticate and Golden Goddess, paired with Rock 'N' Kohl in Bedroom Black.
For the matte nude lip, Rumsey used Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude along with The Super Nudes K.I.S.S.I.N.G in Runway Royalty.
"Charlotte Tilbury is perfect for red carpet and the new Super Nudes collection fit the Met Gala's theme perfectly," the makeup artist shares exclusively with InStyle. "I love the iconic nude lip liner โ you can pair it with any of the new lip shades. I also really love shades and textures in the new Supernudes face palette in Nudegasm."

And for those who want to recreate the look at home, Rumsey only has one piece of advice: "Don't be afraid to go smoke with a winged liner โ it adds some edge. Just make sure the skin is flawless."
The 19-year-old's bleach blonde hair was styled into a wavy bob, giving off a Marilyn Monroe vibe.
While we typically see the star in more conservative wear, she says feeling comfortable wearing this elaborate dress by Oscar de la Renta has been a long time in the making.

"It just was time," she shared with Palmer. "It was time for this, and I feel like I've grown so much in the last few years. I've always wanted to do this. I was just scared and didn't feel comfortable in my skin, and I feel like I finally did."
