Billie Eilish Calls Out White People Who Say 'All Lives Matter'

On Saturday, Billie Eilish posted on Instagram to share her feelings about the phrase "white lives matter" as protests around the country continue following George Floyd's death at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer.

"I've been trying to take this week to figure out how to address this delicately. I have an enormous platform, and I try really hard to be respectful and take time to think through what I say and how I say it.......but holy fucking shit I'm just gonna start talking. If I hear one more person say "aLL liVeS maTteR" one more fucking time I'm gonna lose my fucking mind," she wrote in part, in all caps, alongside the caption "#justiceforgeorgefloyd #blacklivesmatter."

Eilish, 18, also posted a "black lives matter" image on Instagram with the caption "I WANT THINGS TO BE DIFFERENT."

This week, she also posted the number for people to text and sign a petition for justice for Floyd.

Eilish is among several celebrities using their platforms to speak out about racial inequality in the U.S. On Friday, Taylor Swift tweeted directly at Donald Trump to condemn him for his efforts to "feign moral superiority before threatening violence? 'When the looting starts the shooting starts'??? We will vote you out in November."

Late that night, Beyoncé posted a video expressing her feelings about the racial injustices that the murder of black Americans this year have exposed.

"We need justice for George Floyd," she began. "We all witnessed his murder in broad daylight. We're broken, and we're disgusted. We cannot normalize this pain. I'm not only speaking to people of color. If you're white, black, brown, or anything in between, I'm sure you feel hopeless by the racism going on in America right now. No more senseless killings of human beings."

In her own post, Rihanna wrote, in part: "I can’t shake this! I can’t get over an ambulance pulling up to an arrest, a paramedic checking a pulse without removing the very thing that’s hindering it! Is this that fucking normal??? If intentional MURDER is the fit consequence for 'drugs' or 'resisting arrest'...then what's the fit consequence for MURDER???!"
