BFD Burn Foundation, car enthusiasts work together for a good cause
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The community gathered to check out hot cars and raise money in support of burn victims, from children to adults.
If you were on your way to Chuy’s Grill for a bite to eat Saturday morning, your eyes also got a nice little treat of a car show hosted by the Bakersfield Car Club Council.
Some of the sick rides out here came mostly as is.
“I have a 2013 Chrysler 300S, 5.7 HEMI,” said Sean Ryan. “Car’s pretty stock, just some bolt on stuff.”
Others came completely rebuilt.
“Out here at the car show today with my ’67 Pontiac Tempest, enjoying the heat,” said Rus Brown. “Me and my brother restored it in the last five years, did the motor and the transmission, repainted it.”
More than 400 fans donated in 23rd annual ‘Keep Kern County Cool’ Fan Drive
But while the cars stole the show, the real reason they’re out here is much more noble.
Chris Bowles says that 100% of the proceeds go to helping burn victims and the support means everything to those affected and involved.
“These guys are willing to raise money for us so we can help local burn survivors from kids to adults,” said Bowles, President of the Bakersfield Firefighter’s Burn Foundation. “It’s an honor and we’re very privileged about that. We will use that money wisely for supporting our local burn survivors.”
This is the third year the event has been held at the Chuy’s on Rosedale Highway. If you’re into classic cars and want to see some cool rides, you can help support the cause at next year’s event.
