This Is the "Beyoncé of Leg Lotions," According to TikTok

I've recently picked up a terrible habit where, instead of reading a book for 20 minutes before bed, I open TikTok and spend a full hour cackling at dozens (hundreds) of seconds-long videos. They have brought me much joy. My life would be unfathomably darker without the exploits of Lincoln the cat, Boman Martinez-Reid, and so many other genius creators — and occasionally, the platform hands over a beauty find that makes all those hours down the drain totally worth it.
Dr. Scott Walter, a dermatologist in Denver who's built up a TikTok following of 505.9 thousand people, excels at delivering such finds, and after scrolling through more of his videos than I care to publicly reveal, I happened upon what he calls the "Beyoncé of leg lotions" — the AmLactin Rapid Relief Restoring Lotion + Ceramides. That's the pinnacle of praise, especially for a drugstore skin lotion, but according to over 3,000 five-star Amazon ratings, the buy is a miracle for anyone who wants their legs to glisten like a superstar's.
"My whole life I've had dry, scaly legs. I've tried exfoliators, body butters, oil, anything I could find," writes one person in dire straits. "I got instant results after my first application, and dramatic results on the third day. My legs have never felt this soft and smooth before. This is the only 24 hour moisturizer that lasts 24 hours."

Thanks to the lotion's use of alpha hydroxy acids — namely 15 percent lactic acid — the formula's a one-two punch of exfoliation and moisture from three ceramides. If you haven't spent a ton of time reading ingredient labels, ceramides are the molecules that hold your skin together and form a protective barrier on top of it. So it's unsurprising that whenever a skincare potion boasts the ingredient, it soothes skin like a lullaby.
"I have terrible 'chicken skin' (keratosis pilaris) on the backs of my arms," writes a shopper. "After years and years of suffering with this embarrassing condition I finally gave this lotion a try. I'm not joking, after only three to four days of use, this drastically improved the texture, look, and feel of my skin. Nearly all my 'pimples' or dryness is gone, leaving smooth and moisturized skin."
People with dry skin from lupus second the finding, calling it the best lotion they've tried — and even those without a diagnosis apart from dry skin find relief. "My entire life, from childhood to mid-twenties, I've had terrible huge patches of dry skin all over my hands and legs," one such person writes, adding that despite going to doctors and trying many creams, nothing had ever helped them. "Let me tell you, this stuff WORKS. It's like night and day. My hands finally look like regular hands instead of bright red and cracked. I am so shocked. I really didn't expect anything to come of this, and so quickly too! I could see the change overnight."
Shoppers say it also comes with the unexpected benefit of stopping painful hangnails from forming, along with clearing up sun damage from childhood sunburns and post-shave itching. Other signs of age vanish, too: Someone with "terrible, wrinkled skin" on their arms says it erased the lines, and one more with shopper with "extremely sensitive, acne-prone, large-pored, and maturing skin" calls it a life-saver for clearing up breakouts, unclogging nose pores, and diminishing under-eye wrinkles.
It has the esthetician stamp of approval, too. As one in the reviews describes, the results are near instantaneous for soft, gorgeous skin — just remember to use a sunscreen during the day wherever you use it, since alpha hydroxy acid makes your skin more sensitive to the sun. The "after" photos might not be of Beyoncé per se, but the sheen the lotion leaves on people's legs would fit right into one of her music videos. AmLactin: Irreplaceable.
