Presidents Day is the first big sale day of the year, and whether you’re looking for winter stuff for next year, need something to get ready for the warm weather, or just want to give your space an overhaul in time for spring cleaning, now is the time to get it.
If you live for tech, now is an especially great time to invest in new phones, tablets, and more. Electronics are usually cheapest around Black Friday, and if you can’t wait that long, this might be your last shot at getting a new laptop or TV for a low price. It’s also a great time to invest in smart home essentials.
“Consumers looking to buy into smart home technology or upgrading to newer models will want to pay attention to this year’s Presidents Day sales, as smart home items will be discounted at lower pricing from year’s past,” CardRates credit strategist Ashley Dull reveals to MarketWatch.
Additionally, now is a great time to get that puffer coat you’ve been lusting after all winter. Sure, you might not get a ton of wear of it this season, but you don’t want to be stuck buying a new one in the fall at full price.
Furniture is also a big category to keep an eye on.
Sara Skirboll, shopping and trends expert at RetailMeNot, says three-day weekends are the best time to pick up a new sofa or kitchen table.
“The best time to snag these items is in January and the three-day holiday weekends throughout the year (like Presidents Day and Memorial Day),” she shares with RealSimple.
The final thing to keep an eye on? Appliances! If you’ve been waiting until your tax refund comes in to replace your Keurig or air fryer, you’re not alone. Retailers are marking down household essentials left and right, so you don’t have to wait until Prime Day to get that pressure cooker you’ve been eyeing for months.
