"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links."
All eyes are on the British royal family, as reporters cover their every move, fashion choice, and charitable effort. Now, all ears can be as well tuned in to the Windsors as well, with royal-themed podcasts that discuss topics ranging from Tudor history to Meghan Markle's latest public appearance. Here are our favorites.
Royally Obsessed
Tuning in to Royally Obsessed is like listening to your BFFs rehash the latest royal news every week. Hosted by journalists Kaitlin Menza and Lisa Ryan, the podcast chronicles the "highs and lows of Buckingham Palace" and features guests ranging from fashion critic Elizabeth Holmes to commentator Victoria Arbiter, and popular bloggers like the Fug Girls.
The Art of the Monarchy
If you're more interested in the trappings of royalty than the people themselves, consider tuning in to this series from the BBC, which promises to examine the "objects that have adorned, defined and described the story of a thousand years of the British monarchy." Yes, it's a few years old at this point, but still worth a listen.
The India Hicks Podcast
As the goddaughter of Prince Charles and a not-so-distant relative of Prince Philip, India Hicks has a rare perspective on the royal family. And now, she's launched a new podcast, where the first season centers around her mother Lady Pamela Hicks's incredible stories. Expect a first-hand account of the commonwealth tour when Princess Elizabeth became Queen, anecdotes about introducing wild animals to King George VI, and stories about Lady Pamela's first cousin Prince Philip.
On Heir
For those royal fans looking for an expert’s perspective on what’s going on in Queen Elizabeth’s family, look no further than On Heir. Reporters Omid Scobie and Emily Andrews don't record on a regular schedule, but when they do post an episode, it’s always enlightening, and offers a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s really like to be a royal correspondent.
The Royal Rota
Similar to On Heir (though perhaps on a slightly stricter production schedule), Tthe Royal Rota brings together journalists and commentators to offer context to the latest royal headlines.
Talks and Lectures by Historic Royal Palaces
History buffs will appreciate the Historic Royal Palaces' library of lectures, which are now easily accessible in podcast form. Highlights include an episode on gossip in Elizabeth I's court, a deep dive into Tudor dress, and an interview with one of Princess Diana's favorite designers, David Sassoon.
Princess Eugenie's Forthcoming Project
In early August, Princess Eugenie announced that her charity, the Anti-Slavery Collective, is launching a podcast. "The Anti-Slavery Collective’s mission is to bring people together, because together we’re so much more powerful, and we can affect serious change." she said. "And if we can do that, and get people working on the same thing, sharing information, sharing what their best practices are, then we can make a real difference."
At this point, it's unclear when the program will debut, and if Eugenie will serve as host. We'll be sure to update as soon as we know more.
