The Best Greige Paint Colors for a Warm, Welcoming Home
Can’t decide between the warmth of beige and the sleekness of gray? You don’t have to. Combining the best of both worlds, the greatest greige paint colors add just the right amount of warmth to a home without feeling too dark or claustrophobic, and the perfect touch of coolness without coming off as stark. With help from interior design expert Sara Ray, we’ve rounded up the best greige paint colors, including a few of her personal favorites, to inspire your next painting project.
According to Ray, it’s important to have a shade like greige in interior design because there are people who don’t want gray but aren’t looking for a chocolate brown either, and greige falls right in the middle. “It’s such an easy color to work with,” Ray says. “It’s become popular because it does kind of mesh those two worlds together [gray and brown].”
While Ray believes brown is definitely coming back “in” in terms of interior design trends, greige is still a very trendy and popular choice among homeowners. “It can work in any space,” Ray says. “I've done it in bathrooms, kitchens, and bedrooms. If somebody doesn't want a color on the wall, but they also don't want white and they want a warm environment—something neutral that can go with a lot of different things. [Greige] is definitely ‘in’ in that sense.”
