Ben & Jerry’s Releases Half-Pound Bags of Edible Cookie Dough Chunks
Put down the pint and step away from your spoon, because Ben & Jerry’s has a new snack that has nothing to do with ice cream. The brand’s Cookie Dough Chunks are the safe way to enjoy cookie dough by the handfuls.
Ben & Jerry’s first put cookie dough in its ice cream in 1984, and it’s their number-one favorite flavor around the world. So it seems like a natural fit for the cookie dough to be offered on its own. Plus, the chunks are made of the same cookie dough you get in the ice cream! The half-pound bags ($4.99 each) will be available at retailers nationwide beginning in April.
The Cookie Dough Chunks come in three flavors: Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. You won’t have to stray far from the ice cream to get your hands on a bag, because they’ll be in the freezer aisle.
“During a short market test in Vermont last summer, fans snatched up the dough in record time,” Jody Eley, innovation manager, said in a press release. “Bags flew off the shelves in mere days, and stores could not keep the delicious dough bites in stock!”
The snack is made with pasteurized eggs and heat-treated flour, making it safe to eat. The vegan cookie dough is the same one you can find in the Ben & Jerry’s vegan chocolate chip cookie dough pint, which debuted in February 2019 alongside another non-dairy flavor.
If you need us, we’ll be standing in our local grocery stores waiting for these to be stocked … and then promptly buying them all.
